Bourn Pottery is pleased to offer a series of Ceramic Masterclasses in conjunction with a variety of ceramic experts. These classes are an opportunity to work with an artist who specialises in a particular area of ceramics and to really learn from the master! 

Mastering Porcelain
Saturday 1 May:
10:00-16:00

Description

Porcelain is a special material that offers amazing possibilities but it can be tricky to handle. This one-day face-to-face course explains the nature of porcelain and looks at different ways to manipulate it covering incised decoration, carving and slip trailing with lots of ideas of ways in which you might combine all of these techniques to make a variety of vessels.

 

A 2-course lunch is included in the course price - please advise of any allergies on booking. All materials are also included.  

Your tutor

Debora Cane is a ceramacist and art tutor with over 35 years’ experience.  Following a brief pottery apprenticeship with Chris Soule, she studied ceramics at Medway College of Design in the 1980s and set up her own ceramics studio which she ran in Cambridge for many years and has a great deal of experience working with porcelain. Debora also teaches the Ceramic Design Academy

Porcelain Lamps

​Description

This one-day face-to-face course discusses different types of porcelain and works with a specially translucent porcelain body to create incised, carved and moulded sheets that are suitable for curling into electric lamp shades, or tea light holders.
