Taster session with wheel

Ever fancied having a go at pottery? Bourn Pottery is offering a 2-hour introductory taster session where you will learn to throw a pot on the wheel and have a go at hand-building and glazing a plate, bowl or tile (or similar).

This is an ideal session for family groups, groups of friends, children from age 5 and adults. The session begins with everyone choosing what they would like to make by hand (bowl, tile or similar) and then you will get stuck in with the clay! Once you are confident in your hand-building project, you will pause for a demonstration from Sara on the electric wheel to show how to centre clay on the wheel and how to make a basic bowl. 2 people will then use the wheels to have a go at making their bowls, and the other members of the group will continue with their hand-building project, rotating round until everyone has thrown a pot. You can expect to make at least 1 hand-built item which you will glaze on the day and will be fired for you, and 1 thrown pot which will be fired for you unglazed. An additional charge of £5.00 per pot applies if you would like your thrown pot to be glazed for you after the session.

Sessions take place in the studio with a maximum of 6 people booked on to the activity. Larger groups of up to 8 people from the same party can be accommodated. The cost is £50.00 per person.

All fired artworks will be ready to collect from the studio in around 2-3 weeks. Please contact me to book.
