Throwing taster sessions
Ever fancied throwing a pot on the potters wheel? Bourn Pottery is offering a 2 hour introductory taster session where you will learn to throw a pot on the wheel and have a go at hand-building a tile, a bowl (or whatever you fancy).
This is an ideal session for family groups, groups of friends, children and adults. The session begins with a demonstration from Sara on the electric wheel to show how to prepare your clay for throwing, centering clay on the wheel and then make a basic cylinder shape (which is the starting shape for most pieces of thrown pottery). 1 person will then use the wheel to have a go, and the other members of the group will begin a hand-building project, rotating round after about half an hour (depending on the group size). You can expect to make at least 1 hand-built item which you will glaze on the day and will be fired for you, and 1 thrown pot which will be fired for you. A small additional charge of £2.50 per pot applies if you would like your thrown pot to be glazed for you after it has been fired.
Sessions take place in the studio and cost £30.00 per person (Min 2 max 8 people - or book a single place on the Social Sharing Sessions - see below). Cost includes all tuition, clay, glazes, equipment, firing in the kiln and light refreshments (including home-made cake or biscuits!).
All fired artworks will be ready to collect from the studio within 2 weeks. Please contact me to book.
Social Sharing Sessions
If you just want to book a single place for a Throwing Taster, or you would like to share the studio with others to get to know new people, then you may like to book for a Social Sharing Session. These sessions are exactly the same as above but you will share the studio with other people who will be working on the same session as you.
